Live chainstitch embroidery at an event using a vintage embroidery machine

    Brand Development, Weber Ranch Vodka

We brought Kai in to do live chainstitch embroidery at our event at the Santa Monica Proper, and honestly, it made the night. Guests could watch their tote bags get stitched right in front of them, and there was a line for it most of the evening. Kai is just great to have around. He was great with our guests, easygoing with our staff, and unfazed when things got busy. Everyone went home with something no one else had, which is exactly what we wanted. If you're looking for chainstitch embroidery or a live activation, I'd point you straight to amR.

    Doodles NFT

We chose amR to be our featured artist at Art Basel Miami and NFT New York. amR’s talent and commitment to his craft is unmatched. I would have no hesitation recommending amR to any brand who’s looking for a truly unique and interactive experience.

    Marketing Director, Roadie Brew

We've been working with Kai and amR for a while now, and we're grateful to have him as part of the Roadie family. He's created custom jackets, hats, high-end merch, and live event pieces for us, and his chainstitch work is consistently second to none. At Roadie, we believe people can feel when real care and craftsmanship go into a product, and Kai's work reflects exactly that. He's helped elevate how our merch looks and feels, works incredibly well with our team, and understands our brand as well as we do. We couldn't recommend him more. Great guy, great work, and we appreciate everything he does for Roadie.

PLANNING YOUR EVENT

WHY CHOOSE LIVE EMBROIDERY FOR AN EVENT?

Live chainstitch embroidery gives guests something to be part of, not just something to watch. They choose a design, see it stitched right in front of them, and leave with a personalized piece made just for them.

The stitching itself becomes part of the event. The vintage machine, the artist, and the process naturally draw people in and give guests something fun to watch, photograph, and share.

For brands, it’s a simple way to create a more personal experience and give guests something they’ll actually want to keep. Instead of a standard giveaway, they leave with something made for them on the spot and a reminder of the event they can wear long after it’s over.

What types of events do you offer live embroidery for?

We bring live embroidery to all kinds of events, from smaller brand moments to large-scale activations. Popular event types include:

  • Corporate events
  • Brand activations
  • Product launches
  • PR and press events
  • Retail openings and in-store events
  • Pop-ups
  • Conferences and trade shows
  • Festivals
  • Client and employee events
  • Private events

If you’re planning something a little different, send us the details. We can usually tailor the setup around the event, venue and guest experience.

Where do you offer live embroidery in Los Angeles?

We offer live embroidery for events across Los Angeles and Southern California. We regularly work in Santa Monica, Malibu, Venice, Marina del Rey, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills.

We also work throughout Culver City, Pasadena, Manhattan Beach, Long Beach, Orange County, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Palm Springs, and San Diego.

Planning something farther away? We travel throughout California for events, too.

Can we provide our own merchandise?

Absolutely. You can bring your own merchandise, or we can help source pieces that are right for your event.

Send us what you’re planning to use and we’ll make sure it’s a good fit for live embroidery before event day. If you’d rather keep things simple, we can also help source event-ready garments and accessories as part of the activation.

Can you create custom embroidery designs for our event?

Yes. We can create a custom selection of designs around your brand, campaign, or event, including logos, lettering, icons, and original artwork.

If you already have artwork in mind, send it over and we can adapt it for chainstitch. Before the event, we’ll confirm the designs, thread colors, placement, and what we’ll be stitching on.

Guests can then choose from the approved designs and watch their piece being embroidered live at the event.

Can amR handle large corporate events and high-volume activations?

Yes. We work on everything from smaller private events to corporate events, festivals, and large brand activations with hundreds or thousands of guests. For busier events, we can add more artists and embroidery stations to increase capacity and keep things moving.

We can also work directly with your event planner, PR or marketing agency, venue, or production team ahead of the event to make sure our setup fits smoothly into the overall production.

How do you keep lines moving at a busy event?

We plan the live embroidery setup around your guest count, event length, venue, and expected turnout. For high-volume events, we can add more chainstitch artists and embroidery stations to increase capacity, while curated design menus help keep stitch times predictable.

For larger or busier events, we can also offer a simple drop-off and pickup system so guests can enjoy the event while their piece is being stitched. Before the event, we’ll recommend the number of artists and stations based on your expected attendance, event hours, and how many personalized pieces you’d like to complete.

Can the live embroidery setup be white-labeled for our brand or agency?

Yes. We can keep the live embroidery setup fully focused on your brand, including the design menu, merchandise, signage, and guest-facing experience.

We can also work directly with your agency or production team behind the scenes, so amR does not need to be front-facing at the event.

  • Brand-approved designs and artwork
  • Guest-facing materials built around your brand
  • White-label support for agencies and production teams
  • amR can stay behind the scenes if needed

Do you travel outside Los Angeles?

Absolutely. We work throughout Southern California and travel across California for events. For events farther from Los Angeles, including San Francisco and Northern California, travel costs may apply depending on the location and event schedule.

Planning an event outside LA? Send us the details and we’ll let you know what’s possible.

What makes amR different from other live embroidery companies in LA?

amR was founded in Los Angeles and brings more than 10 years of chainstitch experience to live events, brand activations, and custom projects.

Our focus is live, hand-guided chainstitch embroidery. Each piece is stitched by an artist on a vintage chainstitch machine, so the personalization happens right in front of your guests. Rather than simply applying a pre-made patch or graphic, the stitching itself becomes part of the experience and guests choose their design, watch it take shape, and leave with a piece made just for them.

We’ve brought live chainstitch to events for brands including Levi’s, Wrangler, BMW, Nordstrom, Fred Segal, and Outerknown, as well as events like Art Basel and Stagecoach. For larger activations, we can scale up with multiple artists and embroidery stations to accommodate higher guest volumes.

We also understand what it takes to work within a larger event production. We can coordinate directly with your event planner, PR or marketing agency, venue, or production team ahead of time so our setup fits smoothly into the event.

SETUP & PRICING

What’s included in the live embroidery setup?

We bring everything needed for the embroidery, including the artist, machine, table, thread, and stitching supplies.

We also take care of setup and pack-down, so once the details are confirmed, there’s very little your team needs to worry about.

How much does live embroidery cost?

Every event is a little different, so pricing depends on things like guest count, event length, how many artists are needed, and whether you’re bringing your own merchandise or would like help finding it.

Send us your event details and we’ll recommend a setup that makes sense and put together a clear quote.

How much space and power do you need?

A typical setup needs around 10 × 10 ft of space on a flat surface, plus access to a standard power outlet.

If you’re working with a smaller space, an outdoor venue, or somewhere with limited power, just let us know. We can usually find a setup that works.

We’re also happy to coordinate directly with your venue or production team before the event to sort out access, power, timing, and setup.

How many guests can you accommodate at an event?

It depends on how many guests are expected to participate, how long the event runs, and what we’re stitching. As a general guide, one embroidery station can complete around 120–150 personalized pieces during a full-day event, with many designs taking about 3–5 minutes each.

Guest count alone doesn’t determine how many artists you’ll need. One artist can often work well for an event with up to around 500 guests, while larger events or events where we expect more guests to participate may need two or more artists and embroidery stations. For festivals and other high-volume events, we can scale up further to keep things moving.

We can also prep part of the work ahead of time and finish the personalization live when that makes more sense for the event.

Send us your estimated guest count, event hours, and what you’d like embroidered, and we’ll recommend the setup that makes the most sense.

How far in advance should I book live embroidery for an event in Los Angeles?

We recommend reaching out as early as you can, especially for larger events, custom artwork, or popular dates in Los Angeles.

That said, we can often accommodate shorter lead times depending on the date, event size, and artist availability. Send us your event date, location, guest count, and event hours, and we’ll let you know what we can make work.
